    Sienna

This horse was painted on a gessoed board. I was able to lift and move the paint as I chose. I like the effect that gives me. I named her Sienna because she is completely created using Burnt Sienna paint.

This painting was done with water color on Yupo paper. Yupo is plastic paper, very slick, non absorbent. The water and paint sit on top of the paper until it dries. It creates a very watery, loose effect.

    Breezy Buckskins

I painted these horses on a gessoed board. I like the effect of having the watercolor sit on top of the support. When I go back into the painting to create highlights, the paint lifts easily.

A battle horse, created using colored pencils, he's the inspiration for Robert Lee Ridgway's poem, The Battle's End. You can find that poem on our website under poetry.
